Augmented Reality Hunting Games

Capcom and Niantic are Launching 'Monster Hunter Now'

'Monster Hunter Now' is an upcoming mobile game that will let players hunt and fight monsters in the real world using augmented reality (AR) technology. The game is developed by Niantic, the creator of 'Pokemon Go,' and Capcom, the creator of the 'Monster Hunter' series. It is set to launch in September 2023 on iOS and Android devices.

The game will feature iconic monsters from the Monster Hunter franchise, such as Rathalos, Great Jagras, and many more. Players will be able to encounter these monsters as they walk around their neighborhoods, and use tap and swipe controls to battle them with different weapons. Each fight will last up to 75 seconds, and players can use a paintball mechanic to tag a monster and finish the battle later at home or with friends.

Players will also be able to craft and upgrade weapons and armor using materials obtained from defeated monsters. The game will have a story mode with new and familiar characters from the series, as well as a multiplayer mode that will automatically connect players who are hunting the same monster on the map.

Monster Hunter Now is designed to be accessible to both newcomers and veterans of the series, and will have a closed beta test starting on April 25. Players can register for the beta on the official Monster Hunter Now website. When registering, players must specify their level of experience with Monster Hunter, noting whether they are a long-time fan or a new fan to the series.
