Applied DNA Sciences' Molecular Ink Tags Boost Trust with Transparency

In partnership with Videojet Technologies, Applied DNA Sciences has made it possible for its molecular tags to be printed on product packaging using the Videojet 1860M printer. These molecular ink tags were developed to "enable forensic verification of products" as part of a layered tagging system.

The tags are printed in the form of date lot codes, which are unique to each customer. These codes may be printed in either black or clear, the latter of which may be viewed under UV light. When it comes to verifying the quality, efficacy and integrity of goods, a portable in-field reader may be used to read the molecular ink at any point along the supply chain.

The activity of a product is traced and stored in a blockchain-compatible database, which has the potential to validate claims on a particular ingredient's purity or origins.
