Slick Modular Student Housing

WilkinsonEyre Delivers Compact and Identity-Centric Building Designs

The modular student housing at the Dyson Institute of Engineering and Technology boasts a contemporary aesthetic that lends itself to geometry, practicality and contemporary sensibility. It is perhaps the fusion of these elements that render the design sound and fitting for modern times.

When designing the structures, WilkinsonEyre utilized prefabricated cross-laminated timber pods. This allowed for the project to be executed in an affordable and sustainable way. The units were rapidly assembled on-site, while the studio arranges the pods in a cluster, stimulating a closer dynamic between residents and visitors.

A big focus of the modular student housing was also creating an architectural typology that had a strong and potent identity.

In addition, WilkinsonEyre also designed a social space for students that is "enclosed within a transparent, circular pavilion."
