Mounted police officers in Louisville, Kentucky are setting the standard among forward-thinking police units. Despite being on a horse, these cops require the same info access as units who travel in squad cars. So Mobile Data Terminals have been strapped to their steeds, allowing the mounted officer to pull up suspect profiles, arrest warrants and other important documents.
The MDT is actually a customized Panasonic U-1 computers, a waterproof device that tunes into the same frequencies as police scanners. It's encouraging to see law enforces modernize their equipment so willingly and it's definitely not a good time to be a criminal!
