It’s every designer’s dream to rip down the elaborate and expensive tapestries at a classic European museum and take them to the sewing machine. Dolce & Gabbana played into this fantasy for their Fall 2009 fashion show this week in lovely Milan.
In an absolute translation of curtain couture, models walked with tassels as belts, quilted silks, velvets and brocades. An overwhelming number of the looks sent out were lampshade-silhouette ultra miniskirts, accentuating womanly hips and a trim waist.
Although I think the line may have been better with an unexpected color palette (not so obvious as Victorian tapestries), it still provided a theatrical show as to be expected from the D & G duo.
