You may think of electronics as complex objects that can only be manufactured with hi-tech equipment and specialized components, but this Minimalist Gramophone ('Minimalistisches Grammophon') proves this assumption wrong. Livia Ritthaler of Germany has managed to construct a vintage turntable at home out of some surprisingly rudimentary parts.
A wooden board, a sheet of paper and few pieces of metal were carefully fabricated into a working vinyl phonograph. Incredibly, it doesn't even need electricity to work! The paper cone tone-arm is mounted on a slender bracket that keeps the little needle steady. A record can be placed upon the plywood platter of the Minimalist Gramophone and manually spun with an extended spindle in the center.
