Each character has an associate color based on their Disney film, such as Little Red Riding Hood’s association with the color red. This artist began each image with the appropriately determined color as a solid-colored background. She then placed small facial features and characteristics atop the background to resemble the characters. Another example is Flounder from the Little Mermaid. Since this character is mostly yellow, Maria José Da Luz used a yellow background and added a few blue fins, a large happy smile and wide eyes.
Each Disney illustration is simple and easy to understand. The detail is not immediately recognized, but each image presents a unique visual aesthetic.
