Nature-Integrated Chapels

The Mik-a-el Chapel is One with the Environment

The Mik-a-el Chapel is another construction done by Sa.Und.Sa Architetti as part of a project to explore the history of a certain area of Italy. As DesignBoom puts it, "the work focuses on questions regarding the inhabitation of the landscape and the dialogue among the new, the ancient, and the ancestral."

The chapel itself thus uses certain elements of nature and incorporates this into the overall design. Certain rocks and trees are used for seating, and various rock faces are even converted into walls. Timber has also been placed throughout to give the area a set structure, making it ideal for people to come for a place to relax and sit in silence.
