Mighty Building Gets an Investment to Work Towards New Construction

Oakland-based company Mighty Buildings recently raised over $40 million in Series B funding with the mission to build sustainable homes that do not compromise the affordability or design. The company uses technology such as 3D printing, automation, as well as robotics.

Mighty Builds claims to be able to print the structures "two times as quickly with 95% less labor hours and 10-times less waste" in comparison to conventional construction methods. The financing is made possible by Khosla Ventures and Zeno Ventures. The companies are spotlighting a hybrid method of home construction that utilizes 3D printing and prefabrication building. They are introducing a proprietary thermoset composite material by the name of Light Stone Material. This helps with alleviating the dependence on materials such as concrete and steel.
