Michael Patrick O'Leary Captures Animals in a New Light

There have been a plethora of captivating and delightful pictures of wild animals but none have captured them quite like photographer Michael Patrick O'Leary has.

Rather then choosing to go for a full body shot of the wild creatures, the photographer has decided to take a different route by focusing only on a portion of their bodies. By opting for a more abstract composition and combining this with different shadow and light effects, the results are an enigmatic and striking depictions of these already magical creatures. Photographer Michael Patrick O'Leary explains, "Animals keep you on your toes. It’s just a dance you have to do with them to try to frame something unique, find that window of light that will silhouette them cleanly." The Baltimore, Maryland Zoo allowed him to have behind-the-scenes access to the animals for the purpose of selling these images at a fundraising event.
