This Kraaiennest Metro Station Gets a Crafty Makeover

Adding intrigue and a whimsically beautiful touch to this metro station in Amsterdam, architecture firm Maccreanor Lavington gives the Kraaiennest station a crafty makeover.

Using laser-cut stainless steel to create a motif pattern surface on the walls of the metro station, the Maccreanor Lavington architects revamped this 1970s station to give it better modern functionality and visual appeal.

The stunning steel screens are located on the new ground level entrance and allow warm natural light to fill up the station by day and turn into glittery, glowing lights making it easy to find it by night.

"At night time, the design allows the station to be a lantern for the local neighborhood," says the architect.
