Hyundai Announced a $5.5 Billion Investment in its 'Metaplant'

Hyundai announced that it is investing more than $5.5 billion USD to build what it is calling the 'Metaplant.' This facility is expected to open for production near the beginning of 2025 in Bryan County, Georgia. According to Hyundai Motor Group, the Metaplant will produce roughly 300,000 units per year in its first year of operation. When the Metaplant and its impact on the local EV supply chain is factored in, the venture is expected to create nearly 9,000 jobs.

One of the reasons for constructing the local United States-based Metaplant is for tax and tariff reasons, as producing vehicles for a respective market in said market is more affordable than shipping assembled vehicles internationally. Additionally, Hyundai confirmed that the Metaplant will primarily leverage renewable energy sources as part of Hyundai's green commitments.
