Visage-Merging Installations

The Metamorphosis Project Blends the Image of Two People

A mirror by artist Alex Andre called the Metamorphosis Project seeks to merge the image of two people together. The mirrored sculpture works by showing two users alternating images of themselves and the other person very quickly. The goal of the mirror is to create "insight into the notion of self in an effort to embrace togetherness," according to Andre.

A wheel of partly mirrored glass spins in order to merge your image with another person. Using a hand crank, the mirror can be set to turn at a very high speed. As the wheel turns, you see a constant loop of the mirror and then the glass. As a result, your own visage is blended with the person on the other side.
