The 'Megalopolis: Shanghai' Series is Gritty

The 'Megalopolis: Shanghai' collection by UK photographer Martin Stavars provides a window to life in the urban Asian hub. All set in black and white, the contrasting images exhibit snapshots of busy metropolitan activity, best captured by towering high-rises and complex city grids.

The Stavars shots are mostly taken from an aerial perspective, looking down upon a plethora of civic interchanges. From thoroughfares to high-speed bikers, the Megalopolis: Shanghai series is authentic, taking a survey of the regions daily goings on. Many of the images also feature a blurred finish, offering a muted or rather slowed down view of the hustle and bustle. With shots of the Oriental Pearl Tower, Huangpu River and Suzhou Creek, Stavars has done a sweeping tour of the cosmopolitan scene.
