The McDrive Thru Wedding in Sweden Allowed 60 People to Tie the Knot

The McDrive Thru Wedding in Sweden allowed 60 people to tie the knot. The latest campaign was created with NORD DDB.

The restrictions in recent years have resulted in long queues at the Swedish city halls this summer. A civil ceremony is traditionally seen as the easiest marriage option. Since McDonald’s is well-versed in how to offer things in an easy and accessible manner, the restaurant chain decided to add a new offering to the menu – the Happy (Ever After) Meal. McDonald's opened up its drive-thru for weddings one Saturday in August, the busiest wedding season of the year.

When couples got married, they only had to submit an approved marriage license application, while McDonald’s provided everything from a wedding officiant to wedding witnesses to a photographer, along with free Happy (Ever After) meals up to 150 Swedish krona each.
