Hot Rods for Kids

Matchbox Ads

I love commercials inspired by the fantasies of children! This clever Matchbox campaign looks like photo stills from class movies, only instead of handsome men and stunning women in the vintage cars, it's kids who are still a good half decade from obtaining their licenses.

The toy car ads, by Ogilvy & Mather, Frankfurt, feature children sitting in hot rods, exuding demeanors so cool, you'd wonder if they were related to James Dean.

One image shows a young boy in a denim jacket, sitting in a Mustang convertible. Another shows a dirty blonde boy in a bronze Fleetwood, arm casually propped on the open window ledge in a way he'd probably seen his father do. The third photo is of mullet-sporting child in an El Dorado.

These ads are too cute. I can't help imaging how great it would be to send the grandparents a poster like this of their grandchildren posing in their old dream cars!
