Foersom & Hiort-Lorenzen Designs the Sustainable Mat Chair

Foersom & Hiort-Lorenzen designed the Mat chair, which was then produced by the team at Normann Copenhagen. The Mat Chair is the result of two decades worth of research, testing, and prototype resigning. The main goal of this was to find a sustainable alternative to plastic when it comes to furniture design.

The namesake Mat is a reference of the material growth, placing circular design at the forefront. The modern shell chair pushes boundaries in the realm of production and material whilst also encouraging these methods across the industry. The silhouette is minimal and timeless, supported further by the ergonomic curves. The shell is the highlight as it is made using hemp fibers that are collected from nearby regions.
