In a disturbing photo series, Mark Harless put naked people in transparent plastic bags and positioned them in untouched outdoor landscapes. Entitled Fertilizer, the collection began with the concept of putting people in bags, and the reasoning came afterwards.
Despite the unsettling quality of the captures, the visually stimulating shots had a peaceful element to them. After examining the imagery, Mark Harless told Ignant he began to think about life and death. The artist aptly explained his line of thought: "After we die our bodies will decompose and the plants and animals will feed off of us in the same fashion a bag of fertilizer would."
