Since 2015, Maple Leaf Foods Inc has been tackling its carbon footprint and recently announced that the brand finally met its goal to becoming carbon neutral. Maple Leaf Foods Inc was able to reduce its electricity intensity by 24 percent, solid waste intensity by 22 percent, water intensity by 16 percent, and its greenhouse gas emission intensity by 14 percent.

The food producer not only aggressively reduced its global greenhouse gas emissions, but also invested in high-impact environmental projects in order to neutralize its remaining and unavoidable emissions. Some of these eco-friendly projects include wind energy support, forest protection and tree plantly, in addition to the recovery of methane gas emissions.
