The Malmo Central Station Combines the Old with the New

The angle at which the Malmo Central Station sits makes it look as though it is sinking straight into the ground. This surreal look gives it a contemporary edge that makes it stand out from similarly glass-clad structures. Considering that Malmo Central Station has often been redesigned to cater for changing passenger needs over the decades since opening in 1858, it is only natural that its presence would be bold and beautiful.

Designed by Metro Arkitekter, the Malmo Central Station is located in Sweden. Since it is a subterranean station, the exterior mimics the direction in which travelers will move in order to catch the trains they require. A mix of old and new, the Terminal Building maintain the past culture of the city while the City Tunnel looks towards its future.
