Rooftop Running Track Architecture

LYCS Architecture Makes the Most from Limited Space

LYCS Architecture was in charge of developing the architecture for a primary school in China, and was faced with the problem of not having that much space to work with. The team still wanted to provide the kids with the proper facilities, so they decided to transform the roof into a functional running track instead of leaving it unused.

What's great about this design is the views that the students also get while using the track. While a lot of the city is quite developed with buildings and high rises, one can still see green hills and mountains in the distance. The space also includes a large courtyard in the center of the building, where the students can mingle with one another during lunch breaks and before school starts for the day.
