Excessively Decadent Passenger Trains

Tickets for the Nanatsuboshi Luxury Train Are in High Demand

The Japanese 'Nanatsuboshi' luxury train was recently unveiled a few weeks ago and although it is not set to start service until October of this year, its seats are completely booked until the summer of 2014.

It is no surprise that the Nanatsuboshi has been received with such an overwhelming response. It is a striking vehicle that blends Japan with the West and traditional styles with contemporary ones.

The luxury train has 14 private suites complete with a bed, desk and a deluxe ensuite bathroom. The common areas of the train include a lounge and a bar complete with a piano for entertaining guests. The Nanatsuboshi travels around the island of Kyushu and although demand is high, tickets don't come cheap. For just a few days and nights, a pair of tickets goes for about $11,000.
