Perforated Brick Architecture

Love Architecture Works with the Urban Layout for Shugoin Housing

Love Architecture is a firm that worked closely with the urban surroundings while completing the Shugoin Housing units in Tokyo.

The apartment complex is in a busy area, so the firm wanted to make sure the the residences in the building were able to get some peace and quiet, while ensuring they didn't feel completely cut off from the outside world. To achieve this, brick material was mainly used on the outside, which helps with the noise factor. However, to keep the air flowing the firm also kept holes in certain sections of the wall. Everything was does in an attractive pattern too so that the apartment complex still looked aesthetically pleasing from the outside. Photo Credits: designboom, lovearchitecture.co.jp
