Ostracizing Automotive Apps

The 'Parking Douche' App by Look At Me Media is Brilliant

In an effort to reduce irresponsible parking in Russia, high profile magazine The Village collaborated with Look At Me Media to create a wired ostracizing solution called, 'The Parking Douche.'

The pair created an amazingly hi-tech app allows users to 'out' parking offenders in a remarkably public way. When someone with the 'Parking Douche' app sees a poorly parked automobile, they simply take a photo of the license, and the app finds out more specific information about the driver and the car. After submitting the information, a picture of the car and the gathered data is posted as a pop-up ad on The Village's site. The only way a reader can get rid of the pop-up is to share the same information via Facebook. Using IP addresses, the app is able to determine which web users live near every particular vehicle, and luckily only show those in close proximity.

Though perhaps a highly embarrassing means to an end, there's no denying the amazing technological brilliance behind the 'Parking Douche' app. The effectiveness thus far has been amazing. Careless drivers better beware in case this catches on globally.
