Tiny Bedroom Pods

Illustrator Peter Berkowitz is Living in a Pod to Fight High Housing Costs

San Francisco is known for having an expensive housing market, which is why this creative chose to build a tiny bedroom structure and go on living in a pod.

As a solution to affordable housing, illustrator Peter Berkowitz built a bedroom pod that costs about $500 a month to live in. According to real estate marketplace Zumper, the median rent for a one bedroom apartment in the city is $3400 a month.

Living in a pod allows Berkowitz in his roommate to share a one bedroom apartment instead of having to pay for a two bedroom. He simply built his own room instead, which is located inside of the living room.

The pod contains a fold-down desk plus LED and sky lighting. He hopes to sound-proof it in the future.
