Liquid Pixels

Liquid Pixels

Found this yesterday whilst browsing YouTube… Samsung has worked with a creative technologist called Daniel Kupfer (of Steak Studios) to hack a Galaxy Note II, allowing it to control 400 fish pumps wirelessly in a project they call 'Liquid Pixels'.

The fish pumps were placed in a tank that was filled with water. Using a combination of the water-jets, electronics and programming, the resulting setup transformed the surface of the pool into a blank canvas that replicated messages / images drawn on the Galaxy Note II (with the S Pen that comes with the device) through bubbles - Liquid Pixels. Very nice!

Liquid Pixels looks like a pretty complex concept - the setup took ten days and they mention in the video that it has over 3,000 connections!

I've seen quite a lot of Daniel's work, but this is definitely up there with the best – a really nice way to use the technology to create and innovate.
