Life-Size Animal Replicas

These Large Replicas of Wild Animals Look Shockingly Real

This Herd of 99 life-size animal replicas are depicted drinking from a large pool at QAGOMA. The artist Cai Guo-Qiang was inspired to re-create these sculptures from a trip to Stradbroke Island in Australia. This large-scale installation is titled ‘Heritage’ as his newest works that took years to create.

This work includes a flock of giraffes, pandas, lions, tigers, and kangaroos all drinking at once from this mystical blue pool. His interpretation of heritage references these animals as a way of defining cultural history. All animals are united as the perfect example to showcase a majestic moment of peace and harmony. This installation is displayed at the Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art for the public to experience.
