Celebrate National Pride Month with a new children's book aimed at showcasing the diverse narratives of LGBT youth. The book was created by Kendrick Daye and Myles E. and helps to tackle contemporary issues of gender, race, politics and sexuality.
The book is titled 'Larger Fears' and it tells the coming-of-age story of a young boy named Jeremiah Nebula. Throughout the story, Jeremiah struggles with coming to terms with his sexuality, gender and racial identity. One of the running themes throughout the book is the fear of not fitting in and how to combat personal insecurities. Unlike most children's books, Larger Fears portrays a more diverse cast of characters and a wider range of issues. Through the story, Johnson and Daye hope that LGBT youth will be able to relate to the characters and express their own insecurities.
The authors are currently running a Kickstarter campaign to bring the book to production and help tell their unique story.
