Pool Noodle Passageways

Les Astronautes Update Your Walk Home with a New Live-Art Installation

Design collective Les Astronautes won the opportunity to transform a narrow Quebec alleyway into a live art installation.

The collective, which is comprised of Alexandre Hamlyn, Gabrielle Blais-Dufour and Robin Dupuis, used hundreds of pool noodles to attract people's attention to an otherwise forgotten spot in the city. The colorful noodles create a bright visual contrast against the historical site. The noodles stay upright by attaching to wooden panels that were installed beforehand.

Passers-by will no doubt be intrigued by this colorful passageway, which sways with movement and life. The foam tubes were intended to be "organic and lifelike, almost like vines in a jungle." The passageway will definitely encourage residents to try out a new route on their way to work, school or home.
