Armored Fire Truck Alternatives

The Lenco FireCat Can Stop Bullets and Budding Blazes

The Lenco FireCat is a different type of armored car. The Ford Super Duty-based vehicle is designed to fight small fires that break out in areas too crowded or dangerous for a traditional fire truck to go. It can hold up to 500 gallons of water in its on-board water tank and is capable of spraying anywhere from 125-500 gallons per minute. In terms of armor, the Lenco FireCat is strong enough to withstand .50 caliber bullets.

Powering the Lenco FireCat is a turbocharged 6.7-liter V8 engine making an incredible 925 lb-ft of torque. All this torque is necessary to move the FireCat. Although its weight is not disclosed the mini fire truck must weigh a few tons given its capabilities and armor. The Lenco FireCat is priced at between $200,000-$275,000. That seems like a lot, but full-fledged fire trucks can easily cost $1 million or more.
