Los Angeles' LED Street Lights Can Be Monitored Online

Los Angeles is set to receive 110,000 connected LED street lights courtesy Philips. The lights will be installed using plug-and-play CityTouch technology, which is exceedingly easy to install and allows for the city's lights to be monitored and controlled online.

While CityTouch has already been installed in many cities around the world, Los Angeles will be the first place in which CityTouch directly connects to each individual street lighting via a special node that uses a mobile chip embedded into each light to turn existing LED fixtures into connected ones.

This project marks Philips out as the world leader in the advancement of city lighting, seeing as how its CityTouch technology has already been in place in more than 30 countries around the world.
