Melted Leather Furniture

'Structural Skin' is a Collection of Glue-Infused Leather Furniture

Spanish designer Jorge Penadés has created a line of uniquely molded glue and leather furniture pieces. The upcycled furniture is created from old, unwanted pieces of leather fused together with the use of bone glue.

Penadés shreds each piece of leather into tiny pieces using an office paper shredder. These pieces of leather are then fused together into shapely structures using the glue. The leather furniture is left to set in iron molds where it is compressed. When the mold is set, the first layer of leather is sliced away to reveal an interesting marble-like design.

The idea emerged when Penadés became aware of how much leather was wasted and discarded within the car, fashion and shoe industries. The furniture comes in the form of fully functioning tables.
