The L'Allumeuse Lamp Pays Tribute to Past Lighting Fuels

The L'Allumeuse Lamp is made out of a propane tank. The title, which translates to 'tease' in English, suggests that the light fixture is a playful interpretation on the everyday object. Although these tanks are mainly used for barbecues nowadays, the propane it contains was once an important source for light. The light fixture alludes to this past purpose in a simple and quirky way.

Conceived by Felix Guyon of La Firme, a design company based in Montreal, Canada, the L'Allumeuse Lamp makes use of the top half of propane tanks, which happen to be the most recognizable. It is turned on by a dangling matchstick that adds a charming touch to the overall design.
