Mixed Pop Culture Art

Kirk Demarais & Dave MacDowell Release Their Latest Work

On May 10th, 2012 the new exhibit at the Gallery1988 studio in Venice will be displaying new artwork by artists Kirk Demarais and Dave MacDowell.

Demarais adds to his collection of television and film family portraits with the latest addition being of the Bluth family from the popular show 'Arrested Development.' The portrait is a hilarious contrast between the representation of an ideal family structure and the actual dynamics of the characters in the show.

MacDowell continues to create bizarre pop culture fantasy, blending together popular icons and surreal elements. The illustration titled 'Walk Like a Man' features Dany Trejo as a unicorn walking among woodland critters. MacDowell does an excellent job at portraying Trejo's intimidating stature while maintaining an outlandish appeal.
