Mile-High Homes

Saudi Arabia's Kingdom Tower is Set to Be Twice as Tall as the Burj Khalifa

Saudi Arabia is ready to wrestle the title of world's tallest tower away from Dubai with its recently announced Kingdom Tower. The Kingdom Tower was designed by Adrian Smith for the city of Jeddah and will stand more than a mile high, which is twice the size of the Burj Khalifa for those keeping score.

The Kingdom Tower will have 12 million cubic feet of space and cost around $30 billion to build. The tower will be a mixed-use building with offices and hotels on the lowest floors, residential homes in the middle and upper floors, and the very top of the building reserved for solar panels. The project was recently announced by Prince Al Waleed Bin Talal, so it'll probably be some time before ground is broken and construction actually starts.
