'Goldrush' by photographer Khuong Nguyen is composed of an assortment of elegantly refined items whose original concept relate to prospectors and adventurers from the late 19th century. The majority of the pictures include gold pans and plates loaded with luxuries and floating on a body of tar.
Rather than water there is oil, instead of gold flakes there are designer shoes and wallets. Through these photographs, Khuong Nguyen creates a dichotomy of comparisons between present day and early turn of the century in regards to the riches we seek and the places we hunt for them.
Khuong Nguyen creates a powerful metaphor through his visual depictions -- the luxury we adorn ourselves in sits a top a bed of oil. When that runs out what then will happen to our treasure?
