The artworks in the Keiichi Tanaami Nanzuka Underground exhibit showcase reworkings of his classic characters but also incorporate new pop culture favorites that he has not used before. Reinterpreted with a flair of colors and images layered over one another in several paintings are Astro Boy and Mickey Mouse.
Although hard to choose, the Golden Skeleton has to be my favorite piece. With a terrifying expression but a clean and delicate composition, the end result is a mesmerizing piece of art you simply can't look away from.
The Keiichi Tanaami Nanzuka Underground exhibit is among many other showcases in the Hong Kong International Art Exhibit, but it definitely stands out with its eccentric vibrancy.
