John Legend Announces Launch of New Skincare Brand for People of Color

Superstar musician John Legend has announced the launch of his new skincare line, which will offer a range of products formulated to meet the needs of people with melanin-rich skin. The progressive new brand is currently under development and has yet to be officially named by the musician.

According to Legend, the idea to create a skincare line designed for darker skin tones was multifaceted. To start, he hopes that the brand will open up broader conversations regarding Eurocentric beauty standards by improving the representation of people of color within the industry. In order to develop the line, Legend has partnered with A-Frame, a Los Angeles-based holding company that focuses on progressive beauty.

"The entire purpose of the business is to create products for people who need them the most," said A-Frame’s chief brand officer Martin Ekechukwu. "And we’re defining ‘people who need them the most’ as Black, Brown, Asian, and [people with disabilities] … anyone for whom there has been nothing specifically created for you, from the ground up."
