Jason D'Aquino Creates Miniscule Art on Unlikely Canvasses

Jason D'Aquino is a miniaturist that specializes in creating pieces that are usually no larger in size than one inch by one inch.

Many of his pieces are drawn on objects that he comes across on his travels and he relies on these items to inspire him rather than purchasing conventional canvasses. His graphite illustrations on the inside of matchbook covers are amazingly detailed and proportionate, despite being created on such a small space.

He has an exceptional hand for precision and many of his pieces are retro-inspired or referential to pop culture. The artist has etched everything on the matchbook covers from typewriters to pin-up girls to scenes from classic cult films such as 'The Shining.'

The bite-sized work of Jason D'Aquino is interesting and insightful, without being overly contrived.
