Eva Carlini Uses Mesh and Scrap Metal to Create Stunning Fashions

Eva Carlini, 21, a native Chicago artist and DePaul University senior, can draw more than just phenomenal pictures. Carlini’s visionary approach to designing one-of-a-kind apparel makes her work unparalleled to any artist.

Carlini, who doesn't know how to sew, recently began to craft garments unlike any other artist or designer. By structuring apparel with staples, wires, and mesh, she’s become a pioneer at making one-of-a-kind sartorial statements. Draped in throngs of sleek black ribbons, Carlini’s avant-garde gown has an exquisitely morbid flavor with a dark elongating silhouette and visible staples, which add an innovative depth. Adorned with hoards of contrasting hues and streaks of paper cut in an array of lengths, her headdress has a similar motif but captivates in a much different way.
