Gold Medal Ice-Skating Squids

This Display Takes a Nautical Approach to the Olympics

These ice-skating squids merge the beauty and grace of figure skating with the mystery of the depths. The display was created by Lorna and Jill Witt and is showcased at the Nine Rubies yarn shop in California.

The Sochi winter Olympics has come blowing in like a snow storm and as such has everybody taking advantage of the calamity. The Witt’s took a strange approach to the fanfare by creating an ice-skating squid display to promote their yarn shop.

The squids are black and pink and only use two of their eight legs to skate (which must be pretty inefficient) while three matryoshka dolls judge them. Given the elegance of the whole display, it can only be assumed that the squids got a good score.
