Hyundai and Aptiv Partnered to Release Autonomous Cars by 2022

Hyundai and Aptiv have announced collaboration efforts in order to have autonomous vehicles on public roads by the year 2022. The two companies will focus on Level 4 and Level 5 autonomous technologies, which are scheduled for testing in 2020 to meet the 2022 date.

The Hyundai and Aptiv partnership will be an even partnership, but it will be overseen by the Aptiv autonomous mobility President, Karl Iagnemma. Aptiv will provide driverless technology, and Hyundai will focus on car engineering as well as research and development efforts.

Aptiv could be able to help Hyundai bring autonomous vehicles to public roads. If successful, the two companies could benefit from being one of the first to bring the technology to the public. The first automotive companies to be able to sell autonomous vehicles will have a significant advantage in the market for self-driving vehicles.
