EasyJet Will Test a New Hydrogen Fuel System to Cut Emissions

Flying is one of the most carbon-heavy activities the average consumer can do, so EasyJet is looking to test a new hydrogen fuel system to help become more efficient. Using a regenerative braking system that's found in eco-friendly vehicles on the road, the EasyJet fuel system would transform braking power into power for onboard amenities.

The entire hydrogen fuel system would work to make all aspects of the airplane more efficient. Being that roughly 4% of fuel used by EasyJet planes takes place during taxiing, the new system hopes to incorporate a green taxi system to eliminate this waste. The new system would also take aim at the waste water produced onboard, which could be recycled inside the plane itself for reuse.
