'The series' by Hunter and Gatti is what happens when a creative duo of long time friends and former separately employed art directors create their own Agency and decide to push their own activity beyond the boundaries of the traditional workflow. The series features images coming from commissioned shootings for magazines (such as Vogue, just to name one) become canvases ready to get painted with acrylics.
Acrylic gives the image a layered, solid appearance and a completely new personality, resembling from a distant view glitched digital effects, dark distortions and fantasy fadings while at the same time maintaining all the original allure. Taking a closer look where paint strokes blend with photographs, all those little details suddenly out of their context sum up, somehow recalling a texture, and making this project by Hunter & Gatti a very interesting experiment on new visual strategies.
