Despite its industrial materiality, the Huni Chair by Jordi Borras Albert is not rigidly utilitarian. The designer of the futuristic piece of furniture strove for a sculptural quality that would deliver practicality as well as visual pizzazz.
Every component of the funnel-shaped furnishing would be made of aluminum, giving the final piece a stiffness, a sturdiness and an attractive shine all over. The sleek conical seat would be manufactured by gently rolling a curved-cut sheet of metal and curling its outer edge back. The supportive structure underneath the Huni Chair would be made from a single, long aluminum tube: the two ends of it would rise up as the front legs and the middle would be bent back completely to form a strong double rear prop.
