The Hudson Valley Sauna is Inspired by Traditional Finnish Spas

The Hudson Valley Spa was designed by New York based architect firm Andre Tchelistcheff Architects. He has managed to convert 90 acres of unused Hudson Valley estate land that features historical barns and a grand house that were built in the 19th century. The architects transformed an old pool shed into a minimalist rectangular space into a 337 square foot area that was inspired by traditional Finnish saunas.

The interior of the sauna is completely covered in cedar wood and is heated using a wood burning stove underneath a roof. The exterior of the structure is framed with bronze seen in the window frames and the overhang. An outdoor shower is installed with bluestone pavement with two large windows that reveal the riverfront and Catskill Mountain landscape outside.
