The Hospital Passport Helps Kids Get Through Treatments

In order to help children get through their medical treatments, the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Scotland developed the Hospital Passport. Using the passport, kids can turn getting treatment from different departments into a travel adventure. As children are passed from department to department, the passport helps kids understand where they are going.

The Hospital Passport program’s design also gamifies the recovery process. The passport lets children see their hospital progress. As kids collect stamps, the passport fills up and thus they are closer to their recovery.

To accompany the passport is a Hospital Passport Coping Kit, which helps parents with the difficult task of talking to their kids. The kit has details about how to talk to children about their illness.
