AR Smart Home Controls

This Hololens Concept Unites IoT and Augmented Reality

At the Microsoft Holo-hackathon in San Francisco, 'IoTxMR' was developed in 48 hours as a concept that uses Hololens technology to power smart home controls. IoTxMR connects Android and Arduino devices to Microsoft's Hololens, making it possible for a home's residents to control a variety of smart devices by looking at them and performing a gesture. For instance, a user is able to make a pinching motion to turn a fan, music system or a set of lights on or off.

As well as being useful for controlling different smart devices within a household environment, the conceptual IoTxMR system also features a mixed reality "zen mode" that disperses bubbles of floating color and specs of light throughout an interior environment.

IoTxMR may suggest some of the ways that humans will interact with home controls in the future, especially as augmented reality becomes more commonplace.
