Hipster culture has been growing rapidly in North America and to help non-hipsters speak its language, graphic designer Michael Mahaffey created The Hipster Alphabet. The alphabet is essentially a website that relays acrostic words that coincide with minimalistic images.
For what started off as a "crappy joke," turned into a hipster phenomenon; the site got over 100,000 views in its first week. By pairing words that relate to hipsters to the letters of the alphabet they starts with, Mahaffey sheds light on everything "hipster," from fashion choices to music.
Mahaffey created the website to help teach him design aspects, but along the way he's taught people the context of hipster words like "retro," "aviators," and "homebrew."
