Hunting is a tradition that is still very much alive in the state of Wisconsin, and the photo series titled Hide by Jason Vaughn, a native photographer, captures one aspect of such a flourishing pastime: cabins or, as they are more commonly known, deer stands. Although these stands can represent a few things, for the photographer, it took on the meaning of legacy.
Hide by Jason Vaughn was initially interrupted when he was suddenly diagnosed with cancer. When he resumed the project, he was drawn to the idea that the cabins were permanently built to be passed down generations. Also, that they represented bonding with their children more than killing animals. Vaughn embraced these notions by capturing them in serene scenes.
